Celia Dowson
Artist’s statement
The work makes use of layering porcelain, using colour gradation and tone to softly echo perspectives and depths… conjuring memories of wild seas, turbulent skies and vast mountainous landscapes, their enormity creating moments of tranquillity.
Celia Dowson is a UK based artist working from her studio in Camberwell. Inspired by land, sea and sky her work straddles the artistic and functional; fascinated by industrial processes she adapts traditional modelling and casting techniques to make bespoke pieces with unique surface pattern and texture.
Celia received an MA from the Royal College of Art, 2018, and a BA (Hons) in Ceramic Design from the University of the Arts London, Central Saint Martins, 2014. Her work is part of two museum collections, Bullseye Projects in Portland, USA and the New Taipei City Yingge Ceramics Museum, Taiwan, where she completed a 3-month ceramics residency in 2019.
